Welcome to Bacopa Moon, where we eat healthy, heal, and have fun!
Relationships have a powerful impact on the way people eat. There is a deep connection between antagonistic relationships and disordered eating. It takes a lot of strength, effort, and perseverance to recover from toxic family systems and unhealthy relationships. And it’s not just in families. In many ways, many aspects of our culture are toxic and antagonistic, especially when it comes to idealized body image and social pressures around food habits.
Here, you’ll find support for recovery from antagonistic relationships through healthy eating and learning to take control back. Healthier eating habits translates to cultivating resilience and getting stronger to live the life you want.
The Founder, Rae Reed’s, personal journey - “I come from a very dysfunctional family. As a young child, my mother would disappear for days at a time. There was rarely any food in the house. It got so bad, social services had to intervene. I’ve experienced abusive, antagonistic family members and constant food and housing insecurity. I understand how devastating narcissistic relationships can be. In the chaos and confusion that comes with an antagonistic, narcissistic family environment, I developed bulimia and disordered eating patterns as a teenager. I fought through it. Over time I cultivated happiness and my process for living healthy, which includes cooking, trail running and backpacking. Good food and good fun can be a powerful antidote for narcissistic insanity.”
Rae is a former ultrarunner. She has a degree in Botany, a certification in Nutrition Science through Stanford, and a certification in Behavior Change through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
