Myth: To get body confident, all you have to do is love yourself

It’s true, simplistically, self-love is a choice. Putting that into practice on a daily basis is an incredible challenge. Navigating all the visual and societal messages, including movies,, advertising, and everything else related to appearances is exhausting. At the end of everyday, if we’re climbing into bed with some amount of positive and compassionate self talk, we’ve won a great battle.

It takes a commitment to tuning in to what is good for us and relentlessly tuning out what isn’t good for us. Otherwise, we risk falling into the downward spiral of self doubt and break our own hearts by bullying ourselves.
